PTI’s Salman Akram Raja Rebukes Aliya Hamza Over X Post, Warns of Disciplinary Action

July 16, 2025 – Web Desk:
A heated exchange within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership surfaced after General Secretary Salman Akram Raja publicly criticized Punjab Chief Organiser Aliya Hamza over her social media comments on a recent party event in Lahore.
“Mobilise Punjab, Not Tweet,” Says Raja
Speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail, Raja stated that Aliya Hamza’s post on X (formerly Twitter) was “unnecessary” and warned that such conduct would not be tolerated in the future. “Her role is to mobilise Punjab—not tweet,” he remarked.
Raja added that attending the press conference was not mandatory and that he was present because Chief Minister Gandapur was in attendance. “Anyone could’ve joined without invitation,” he said, further advising that “those who erred should simply apologise.”
Ali Zafar Responds: “Use Patience in Leadership”
The controversy gained traction during a segment on Geo News’ Capital Talk when a clip of Raja’s remarks was shown. PTI Senator Barrister Ali Zafar expressed concern over Raja’s tone and called for restraint among party leaders.
“When emotions run high, it’s important to calm down and speak with clarity and respect,” said Zafar.
He emphasized that while internal disagreements may occur, they should be addressed with dignity, not through loud or public confrontations. He acknowledged that Aliya Hamza had a valid concern about not being invited and was willing to attend.
PTI Lahore Event and Party Dynamics
While the Lahore press conference was reportedly well-organised, the absence of the Punjab organiser from the stage raised eyebrows. Zafar admitted this was a misstep, especially given her role in provincial mobilization efforts.
Both leaders seemed to reflect broader tensions within PTI as it reorganizes under challenging political conditions. The incident has drawn attention to how internal communication and discipline are being managed in the post-Khan era.
